Piron Luc
Luc Piron is a Belgian artist, born in Willebroek in 1952. He is a printmaker and installation artist. He studied drawing and etching at the Academy in Mechelen under the guidance of L. Bosselaers and E. Van Den Brande (1967–1970), followed by studies at the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp (1971–1975).
He created compositions with figures that reveal wit and a boundless imagination. From 1977 onwards, he also produced multimedia installations combining printmaking, photography, video, drawing, and objects, such as the installation Sadomasochism and Bondage. From 1984 on, he also worked as a collage artist and painter.
In 1974, he illustrated the poetry collection Puur Natuur by Herman De Coninck (Hooft Publishers, Aalst). He received the Pro Civitate Prize in 1971, was awarded by the Belgian Foundation for the Vocation in 1974, and won the State’s Triennial Prize for Printmaking in 1975. His work was acquired by the Belgian State in 1970/1971, 1972/1973, and 1974/1975.
Luc Piron also taught at the National Centre for Higher Art Education in Etterbeek. He is listed in BAS I and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
