Van de Veegaete Julien

Julien Van De Veegaete was a Belgian artist who was born in Ghent in 1886 and died there in 1960. He was a painter, draftsman, xylographer, lithographer, miniaturist and sculptor. Education at the Academy in Gent under the direction of F. Willaert, J. Van Biesbroeck and J. Delvin. Second for the Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1919, also second for painting in 1920 (artists under thirty-five years old). Was a member of the board of the Société des miniaturistes belges (a.o. in 1933). Realized portraits, figures, nudes, interiors and compositions with characters.
