
Demey Troet (Jean-Pierre)
Jean-Pierre (Troet) Demey is a Belgian artist, born in Schaerbeek in 1949. He is an etcher, painter, watercolorist, pastelist, and has been working with mixed media in recent years. Additionally, he is active as a poet and actor. He received his art education at the Sint-Lukas Institute in Brussels and Hasselt, under the guidance of H. De Coninck and S. Van den Brempt. After his studies, he embarked on a two-year world trip, the impressions of which continue to influence his work. Around 1970, he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, where he specialized in watercolor painting. From 1977 to 2008, he was a teacher of Plastic Education in Hoegaarden and Meldert. Thanks to a two-year secondment at VZW Gynaika in Antwerp, he was in daily contact with the work of artists and their exhibitions from colleges in Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. (BT)
