Zentner, also known as J. L. L. C. Zentner, was a German reproduction graphic artist who worked in the Netherlands, Germany, Paris (1783) and London (1791). He has been active between 1780-1804. He etched a series of fifty plates with landscapes after old masters, plus six sheets of six painters' heads, which were published by John Thane in 1791 with an accompanying elongated text. The title page is in French and English and says: "A select collection of landscapes by the best old masters, one of each, engraved by L. Zentner after drawings he made from original images, in various cabinets, during his stay in Germany, France and the Netherlands, to which are added portraits of the artists and short biographical accounts of each; now first published by J. Thane, Rupert Street, Haymarket, London 1791. Zentner published other plates in Paris with Poignant. (RKD, The British Museum)
