Valgaeren Yvonne

Yvonne Valgaeren is a Belgian artist who was born in 1928 in Herselt. She is a painter, draftsman and watercolorist. Training in drawing and painting at the Holy Sepulcher Institute in Turnhout (1943-1947); later evolved at the Art School in Wespelaar (1970-1971) and studied ceramics at the Academy in Leuven (1972-1973). Finds her subjects in nature, including rural views from the Kempen and Hageland. In doing so, she adheres to the real, daily reality, which is open to everyone. From the press: "The sincere, simple externalization of her impressions and feelings, derived from nature, compel the viewer to communicate with her art" and about her watercolors : "Kempen radiate as colorful light sources. They evoke a great nostalgia in the spectator." In 1973 first laureate of the Triennial Prize for Painting by Wilsele, prize from the public and second prize of the jury of the Beatrijs ensemble in Rotselaar. Working in Leuven.
