
Wolters Eugene
Eugène Wolters was a Dutch-Belgian painter, born in Venlo/Netherlands in 1844 and died in Antwerp in 1905. He was educated at the Academy in Antwerp, under the supervision of Beaufaux, Van Lerius and J. Jacobs. He then worked for another three years under the guidance of Lamorinière. He painted marines, landscapes and portraits. From 1860 to 1870 he worked in Germany. In 1881 he took part in the Salon of Brussels (The Scheldt in Rupelmonde and Fishermen rushing to the aid of a burning boat), in 1883 in the Salon in Ghent (The banks of the Scheldt in Baasrode and Evening Twilight, navy). In 1894 he received Belgian nationality. He is mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
