Wilkin Emile

Emile Wilkin was a Belgian painter, born in Ostend in 1905 and died in Vorst/Brussels in 1993. He was a student of Jan De Clerck. He created landscapes, city and beach views, marines and Ostend wharf and harbor views. He exhibited, among others, in the Studio gallery in Ostend in 1936 (J. Ensor then wrote the foreword for the catalogue), in 1956 in the Atelier d'Arva in Brussels and in 1959 in the Mont des Arts gallery in Brussels. We find work by Emile Wilkin in the Museum in Ostend. He is listed in the Lexicon of West Flemish visual artists v, BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
