Wilfried Sybrands (Willy) was a Belgian artist who was born in 1912 in Ghent and who died in Blankenberge in 1991. He was a painter, draftsman and printmaker. Training at the Academy in Ghent under the direction of O. Coddron, F. De Boever and C. De Cock. He painted landscapes, still lifes, portraits, figures, nudes and clowns. Traveled to France, Italy and Spain, among others. Over the years, the design became more synthesized and immediately more powerful. His works exude intimism and poetry. As an etcher he realized, among other things, figures and picturesque Ghent cityscapes. Was a teacher at the Academy in Ghent from 1936 to 1947. Work in the Museum in Ghent, among others.
