Wesemael Oscar
Oscar Wesemael was a Belgian painter, born in Lebbeke in 1893 and died in Evere in 1979. He trained at the Academy in Dendermonde. He painted figures, forest views, compositions, flowers and still lifes. In 1927 he settled in Brussels, where he worked as a decorative painter. At the same time he also worked as a set painter for the theater circle in Lebbeke. He became chairman of the Art Guild in Evere. Oscar Wesemael exhibited in Dendermonde in 1923 and with Les Arts en Europe from 1964 to 1967 in Brussels. He is listed in the Lexicon of East Flemish painters and sculptors, in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
