
Vinck Frans
Frans (Franz) Vinck was a Belgian painter, born in Antwerp in 1827 and died in Berchem in 1903. He trained at the Academy in Antwerp under the guidance of J. Dyckmans. In 1848 he made his debut at the Salon in Antwerp. From 1859 to 1866 he stayed in Brussels and perfected himself around 1866 under the guidance of H. Leys. He originally painted Biblical scenes, after his apprenticeship with Leys he mainly continued to work in the style of his master: genre scenes, historical compositions and portraits. He became a teacher at the Academy in Antwerp and was also a teacher at the Academy in Dendermonde from 1873 to 1876. We find work by Frans Vinck in the museum in Antwerp.
