Wagemaekers Victor

Viktor Wagemaekers was a Belgian artist born in Ganshoren in 1876 and died in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek in 1953. He was a painter and watercolorist. First individual exhibition with Le Sillon in Brussels in 1899. Realized landscapes, genre scenes and interior views. He was especially known for his refined, clear and realistic painted watercolors. Found his inspiration mainly in the landscape in Brabant and in the Antwerp Kempen. Was treasurer of the Société Nationale des Aquarellistes et Pastellistes, founded in 1899, of which L. Rotthier was chairman. Work in the Museum in Antwerp (Autumn at the old castle). Mentioned in BAS I and Two Centuries Signatures of Belgian Artists. (PIRON)
