Uytterschaut Victor

Victor Uytterschaut was a Belgian artist who was born in Brussels in 1847 and who died in 1917 in Boulogne-sur-Mer/France. He was a watercolorist, pastelist and painter. Joined a Brussels designer of decorative metal elements as an apprentice. Education at the Academy in Brussels under P. Lauters (1859-1867). Realized landscapes, marines, cityscapes. Specialized in watercolor painting. His first watercolors were created around 1867 in the vicinity of Spa. From 1870 he often worked in Anseremme, Genk and Antwerp. Traveled to the Netherlands and England in 1878, bringing numerous studies with him. Discovered the Belgian coast from 1880 and worked there in Nieuwpoort and De Panne. Realistic design. Purebred plein air painter. Co-founder of the Chrysalide Group. Was, together with H. Stacquet, one of the most loyal members of the Société Royale Belge des Aquarellistes. Work in the Museums in Brussels, Anderlecht, Bruges, Antwerp, Ixelles. Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
