Mignot Victor

Victor Mignot was a Belgian artist who was born in 1872 in Brussels and who died in 1944 in Paris. He was a painter, draftsman, etcher and designer of posters. Self-taught. Debuted ca. 1890 as an illustrator. In 1892 he contributed to the magazine Le Cyclisme Belge, published his own sports magazine the following year, contributed to Petit Bleu and other newspapers and magazines. Designer of the poster for the Jaarbeurs in Brussels in 1896. For his personal creative work he found his inspiration mainly in the female nude. Etched and drew numerous female figures and nudes that appear seductive and in which he glorifies the female body, as it were. Pure lines. The nudes breathe dream, poetry, sensuality. Exhibited with the Kunstkring Le Sillon, among others. Settled in Paris around 1910. Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
