Kunstwerken kopen van de Belgische kunstenaar Victor Dolphyn

Dolphyn Victor

Victor Dolphyn is a Belgian artist who was born in 1909 in Diest and who died in 1992 in Antwerp. He was a painter and graphic artist. Brother of Denis and father of Willem Dolphyn. Education at the Academy in Ghent under J. Delvin and J. De Bruycker (1928-1932), at the Higher Institute in Antwerp under Is. Opsomer (1932-1938). Debuted in the line of the Impressionists before evolving towards a more classical structure. Sober and controlled color palette. His still lifes, mostly fish and shellfish or bottles and fruits, recall the refinement of the masters of the 17th century. Through an alternation of soberly applied and even thinner layers of paint, he obtains a kind of light vibration in his works. His stately portraits, including those of his father-in-law Willem Elschot, were usually made to order. Founder and inspirer of the New Classical Antwerp School in 1962. Was a teacher at the Academy in Ghent. Work in the Museums in Antwerp and Ghent, among others. Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
