Vic Dooms, or Victor Dooms was a Belgian artist born in Sint-Martens-Latem in 1912 and who died in Ghent in 1994. He was a painter. Working professionally in Vilvoorde, he attended classes at the Portaelsschool from 1932 to 1939 under Joseph Bouüaert and Jules Brouwers. Settled back in Sint-Martens-Latem in 1939. Realized, among others, landscapes, harbor views, interiors, still lifes, flowers, portraits. Lyrical, contemplative and intimist painter. Was not a flamboyant personality and preferred the intimate of the homely and the tranquility of the untouched Slate Nature. Was clearly inspired by stillness and introspection. Labeled himself a tonalist, someone who revived the mostly unnoticed environment or banal worn objects through unparalleled colors and poetry. Work in the Museum in Ghent, among others.
