Versonnen Rik

Rik Versonnen was a Belgian artist, born in Leuven in 1919 and passed away in Spain in 1997. He was a painter, sculptor, and jewelry designer. In the 1960s, he settled in Brussels, where he had a studio in the Toone puppet theater. There, he found inspiration in the inhabitants of the small Brussels neighborhoods. He later moved to Ostend but also spent time regularly in southern Spain.

He created landscapes with remarkable skies, floral compositions, romantic (female) figures, and portraits. His works are consistently colorful and poetic, always revealing original light effects.

Rik Versonnen is listed in Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
