
Van Neste Adolf
Adolf Van Neste was a Belgian artist, born in Antwerp in 1880 and died in Brasschaat in 1959. He was a painter and watercolorist. He was educated at the Academy in Antwerp (1900-1903). There he met artists such as Isidoor Opsomer, Frans Hens and Louis Peeters. From the press on the occasion of the Triennial Exhibition of Fine Arts in the Municipal Festival Hall on the Meir in 1923: “Le tableau de Van Neste, anémones, peut compter parmi les meilleures peintures de fleurs, par son coloris chatoyant et sa fraicheur” (Neptune ). In 1925, Adolf founded the art circle 'Het Klimop' on the Kiel. He furnished his stylish house as a meeting place for both writing and visual artists. Many exhibitions were held there. His subjects are: floral still lifes, interiors and landscapes. He also made several frescoes in the Antwerp Zoo. Adolf Van Neste was also known as a designer of tapestries and tapestries, which he designed for the Van Pee company from Sint-Niklaas. He also made stained glass windows and publicity drawings and decorations for books and posters of Belgian associations.
