
Van Humbeeck-Piron Marie
Marie Van Humbeeck-Piron was a Belgian artist, born in Philippeville in 1888 and died in Herent in 1969. She was a painter, pastelist and graphic artist. She was the wife of Pierre Van Humbeeck. She received her training at the Academy in Leuven, under the guidance of O. Dierickx, and at the Academy in Brussels, under the guidance of Delville and Richir. She realized city and seascapes, landscapes, forest views and portraits. She stopped engraving around 1924 due to health reasons. She continued with drawing and painting in pastel and oil paint. She found her inspiration in Flanders and Brabant and from 1930 also in the Ardennes. From 1910 to 1947 she was an art teacher at the Normal School in Leuven.
