Van Gerwen Jos

Jos Van Gerwen was a Belgian painter and printmaker, born in Turnhout in 1910 and deceased there in 1992. He was associated with fantastical art and surrealism. In his work, he created a world of strange creatures that nevertheless always remain connected to humankind.

As noted in the press, “J.V.G. does not confront his dreams, fears and fantasies in a desperate way, but transforms what appears to be ordinary everyday life into dreams, fears and fantasies.
