
Van Elstraete Adolf
Adolf Van Elstraete was a Belgian artist, born in Aalst in 1862 and died in Tienen in 1939. He was a painter and watercolorist. He received his education at the Academy in Leuven. He mainly worked in Leuven, where he found inspiration in the old city center, the Beguinage and along the Dyle. He also painted landscapes, interiors, flowers and still lifes. He used a powerful and lyrical design. He was co-founder of the Royal Art Circle in Leuven, of which he became chairman. We find his work in the Museum in Leuven. He is mentioned in BAS II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
