Van den Eynde Louis
Louis Van Den Eynde was a Belgian artist, born in Anderlecht in 1881, and died in Anderlecht (?) in 1966. He was a painter, graphic artist and designer of ironwork, graffiti paintings and posters. He followed basic training at the Municipal Drawing School in Anderlecht and continued his learning path at the Academy in Brussels, under the guidance of C. Montald, L. Titz and J. Dillens. He realized landscapes, figures, coastal views, marines, fishermen's scenes, fishermen's types, still lifes and interiors. Before the First World War he taught at the new Academy in Anderlecht. After the First World War, in 1926, he discovered the seaside resort of De Panne. He got to know fishermen's life there and made numerous paintings, drawings, etchings and lithographs with characterful portraits of the fishermen as well as all elements of their daily activities (repairing the nets, loading and unloading the boats, ...) Between 1926 and 1955 Louis Van Den Eynde regularly participated in the Salons in Paris. He also exhibited at the Salon Triennal des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in 1903 and at the Exposition Triennale de Gand in 1925. His work can also be found in the collection of the municipality of Anderlecht. Louis Van Den Eynde is mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron, BT)
