Vandemaele Kamiel

Kamiel Vandemaele was a Belgian painter, born in Tielt in 1908 and died in Roeselare in 1985. He was the brother of Jozef Vandermaele. In 1930 he settled in Roeselare, where he took classes at the Academy under the guidance of G. Vallays (1931-1932). He also received advice and support from his friend, the flower painter Emiel Devos, and between 1937 and 1939 he studied wood and marble painting at the Vocational School of Arts and Crafts in Roeselare. He worked in a naïve style and painted (Parisian) dancers, (Roeselare) city views, figures, and characters. Professionally, he worked as a house painter.
