Theys Koen

Koen Theys is a Belgian artist born in 1963 in Uccle. He is a visual artist, video creator and conceptual artist. He trained at Sint-Lucas (1978 - 1981), sculpture at the Academy in Ghent (1981 - 1983), visual arts, film and video at Sint-Lukas in Brussels (1983 - 1987). He worked with Frank Theys and Dirk Pasmans, among others. From the press: “K.T. strives for a synthesis of the visual language. He works with video, sculptures or installations and makes countless connections in order to explore perspective and space. He borrows elements from his environment, windows, table columns, objects that are sometimes included in his performances, so many references to the everyday and this in combination with constant references to art history, which also relate to his own work.” Work by Koen Theys was purchased by the Flemish Community in 1986/1987.
