Schilderijen van de Belgische schilderes Suzanne Theunissen

Theunissen Suzanne

Suzanne Theunissen was a Belgian painter, born in Liège in 1907 and deceased in Genk in 2004. She was the daughter and pupil of Charles (Karel) Theunissen. She continued her studies at the Academy in Brussels under the guidance of C. Montald and A. Bastien, and also studied modelling with E. Rombaux. She travelled with her father, notably to Provence, where she was deeply impressed by the light and the landscape. She painted landscapes, portraits, figurative scenes and religious compositions. Her works convey a sense of silence and restraint and bear witness to a sensitive inner world. From the 1950s onwards, she was active in Genk. She exhibited at the Galeries d’Art Laribe in Brussels in 1930, at the La Meuse gallery in Liège in 1932, at the Pan gallery in Ghent in 1950, at the city hall of Genk in 1953, at De Gouden Ram in Antwerp in 1962, at the Albert gallery in Hasselt in 1963 and at the Church of Saint Aldegonde in As in 1982. She is listed in Belgian Limburg Painters and Draughtsmen (2006).
