Stocquart Ildephonse
Ildephonse Stocquart was a Belgian artist, born in Geraardsbergen in 1819 and died in Brussels in 1889. He was a painter and etcher. He was successively a student of J. Ducorron, E. De Block and H.J.F. Van Der Poorten. He created landscapes and scenes with cattle, drawing most of his subjects from the surroundings of his native town. He participated in the Antwerp Salon in 1861 (with works such as Resting Herd by a Hut, The Ford and Cattle in the Meadow), in the Ghent Salons in 1868 (Meadow, Evening), 1874 (Morning and Ox Cart during the Harvest) and 1883 (Morning and The Pasture), and in the Brussels Salon in 1881 (Leaving the Stable). His work can be found in the museums of Brussels and Mons. He is listed in BAS II and Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists (Piron).
