Steiner-Prag Hugo

Hugo Steiner-Prag (Prague, Czech Republic 1880 – 1945, New York City) worked as an artist, illustrator, and teacher worldwide. His formal artistic career began at the age of seventeen when he enrolled in 1897 at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts. He continued his studies in Munich, Germany, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Here, Steiner added "Prag" to his surname to honor his native city and to distinguish himself from other artists.
