
Steffelaar Cornelis
Cornelis Steffelaar was a Dutch artist who was born in 1797 in Amsterdam and who died in 1861 in Haarlem. Initially he was a house painter and glazier and he painted as a hobby, later he devoted himself entirely to painting. He was a painter, painter, glass blower, etcher, lithographer, watercolorist and draughtsman. He has undertaken study trips to Belgium and Germany. He realized portraits, animal scenes (genre), church interiors, still lifes, bird scenes, cityscapes, winter landscapes, summer landscapes, mountain landscapes and river landscapes. He was a member of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam. (RKD)
