Sengier Achille

Achille Sengier was a Belgian painter, born in Kortrijk in 1886 and died in Kortrijk in 1964. He trained at the Academy in Kortrijk. He created atmospheric sea and harbor views. He found his inspiration on the Belgian coast and in the vicinity of Nice/France, where he often stayed later in life. In 1956 he exhibited for the last time in Kortrijk, his hometown. He was a member of the Kortrijk Guild of Saint Luke and a board member of the West Flemish Art Circle. As a theater lover, he was honorary chairman of the Kortrijks Lyrisch Toneel. We find work by Achille Sengier in the Museum in Kortrijk (The North Sea, 1950). He is listed in the Lexicon of West Flemish visual artists II, BAS II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
