Segers Adrien
Adrien (Pierre Adrien) Segers was a Belgian painter, born in Ixelles in 1876 and died in Rouen (France) in 1951. In 1910, he participated in the entrance exam for the Prix de Rome. He was initially active in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode and settled in Rouen in 1914. There, he worked in the spirit of the French Impressionists, painting still lifes, harbour views, and landscapes along the banks of the Seine, resulting in works such as Pommiers en fleurs près de la Seine (Blooming apple trees along the Seine). The paint was applied to the canvas in a rich and creamy manner. He exhibited at the Exposition Triennale d’Anvers in 1901, the Salon Triennal des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in 1903, the Triennial Exhibition in Antwerp in 1911 (Still Life), and the Salon Triennal in Brussels in 1914 (Le vieux des berges). His work was auctioned by Galerie Georges Giroux in Brussels in 1920 (collection Y. Lamberty: Canal in Brussels in Winter). (Piron)
