De Winter Ronald

Ronald De Winter is a Belgian artist who was born in Antwerp in 1956. He is a figurative sculptor. Training at Sint-Lukas in Brussels. Creates bronze animal sculptures that are only made in one copy. From the press: “R.D.W. has been working at the zoo for several years, just like his illustrious predecessor Rembrandt Bugatti. With the same passion he modeled lions, tigers, antelopes, monkeys, eagles.” Also designed the statue of King Baudouin, which is located on Keizersplein in Aalst. (1994) Work in the collection of the Zoo in Antwerp. Well-known statues can be found in the Antwerp Zoo and in Plankendael (gorilla statue and bonobo family). Exhibited a.o. in the gallery Campo in Antwerp in 1993. Work purchased by the State in 1982/1983. Mentioned in Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. Source: Piron
