Van De Waele Raymond

Raymond Van De Waele was a Belgian artist who was born in Ghent in 1894. He was a painter and draftsman. Son of the sculptor Charles Van De Waele. Education at the Academy in Ghent. Realized landscapes, Scheldt and river views with boats, marines, figures, portraits. Romantic, especially tries to reflect moods in his works. His works show a delicate temperament, are firmly structured but sober and distinguished. From the press: 'He is a romanticist, but one who loves sobriety of dignity and gesture, and therefore prefers to express himself with a settled touch, not strongly, but usually in a purely moody color scheme.' (J. Crick) Establishedde settled in Kaprijke in 1920. Participated in the exhibitions of the Kring Kunst en Kennis in Ghent in 1921, 1922 and 1924.
