Dierick Raymond Charles

Raymond Charles Dierickx was a Belgian artist who was born in 1904 in Uccle and who died in 1978, also in Uccle. He was a painter, watercolorist and draftsman. Son of Joseph (José) Dierickx, cousin of Omer Dierickx. Education at the Academy in Brussels under Montald, Delville and Fabry (1920-1929). First exhibited at the G. Giroux gallery in Brussels in 1926. Founding member of the Héracles Group. Was a teacher at the Art School in Ixelles from 1932. Realized scenes with processions, parties, fairs, landscapes and compositions. From the press: "R.D. leads us into a mystical world. It is the world we know from prints from past centuries. In his large compositions, the colors can compete with the art of enamelling. His color palette shows a poetic luster. He catches the light and makes it shine again in his works.” Work round in the museums in Reims/France, Ixelles and Mons (Pilgrimage and fair in Flanders, gouache and India ink, signed R. Ch. Dierickx/Uccle ). Mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
