Prédair Bernadette

Bernadette Prédair (Châtelineau 1948 -) Painter, draughtswoman, watercolorist, and gouachitist. Trained at the Academies in Mons and Watermael-Boitsfort under the tutelage of R. Somville. Exhibited for the first time in 1971. Associates with Neo-Expressionism. Finds her inspiration in literature, among other sources, or interprets works by other visual artists. Participated in the 1983 exhibition 'Bonjour Monsieur Manet' in Paris with variations on his work *Olympia*; in 1986, she started from Jean Genet's *Les funambules* for a series of works. From the press: "B.P. paints exclusively men and women, faces or bodies, calm or tense, but mostly solitary nudes" and "The colors are turbulent and daring: reds, blues, yellows, and purples quarrel in order to better express her inexhaustible inspiration."
