Plumot André
André Plumot was a Belgian painter, born in Antwerp in 1829 and died in Antwerp in 1906. He worked briefly in the studio of N. de Keyser, later with H. Carpentero and with the figure painter A. Lion. At the academy of Antwerp he was a student of E. Dujardin and J.A. Verschaeren. He left the Academy in 1849 and often lived in the countryside for health reasons. He worked in Kalmthout with J. Rosseels and I. Meyers, in the Ardennes with J. Van Luppen. He painted interiors in the early 16th and 17th century. HIS walks and trips in the Polders inspired him to mainly paint scenes with animals, mainly with goats and sheep. Work by André Plumot can be found in the museum in Antwerp, (The footbridge and other panels with animals). He is mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (Piron)
