Pille Jacques
Jacques Pille was a Belgian artist, born in Kortrijk in 1926 and died in Kortrijk in 2001. He was a painter, draftsman and sculptor. He was largely self-taught, but took drawing lessons under the guidance of Dutoit in 1941 and under the guidance of Caullet in 1942. From the press: 'J.P. often explores the human face that becomes a mask under his vision, because this painter is by no means a portraitist, but a researcher into unknown areas hidden behind the mask' and 'The paintings of J.P. with their bright colors and their tangible ellipses and motifs of paint matter, there is something passionate about them that is distantly reminiscent of the atmosphere of Cobra freedom and resistance to rules and coercion. In the center of the canvas, faces regularly appear as a mosaic of color and feelings.' (1977) Jacques Pille was a member of the Kring Evariste Carpentier in Kuurne. (Piron)
