Dutch painter Pieter Adrianus Bouter was born in The Hague in 1887 and lived and worked mainly there. He died in 1968. He was an autididact and mainly formed himself. Like his brother Cor Bouter, he painted many landscapes with cattle and heathlands with sheep. A large part of their paintings were exported to America at the time. (info: Lexicon Pieter A. Scheen).
