Schilderijen en kunst kopen van de Belgische kunstenaar Paul Hagemans

Hagemans Paul

Paul Hagemans was a Belgian artist born and died in Antwerp (1884-1959). He was a painter, draftsman and graphic artist. He was the son of Maurice Hagemans. He was educated at the Academy in Brussels under Is. Verheyden and H. Richir (1899-1906). He realized portraits, figures, genre scenes, city and village views, landscapes, historical and religious subjects. He had a luministic color palette and worked in generous paint paste. From the press: 'The exceptional quality, the softness and, at the same time, the vibrancy of the color, provide the works of P.H. a kind of intimate expressiveness, a capacity for seduction that emanates from confidentiality. He has tackled all genres, all subjects, but it is still when he depicts nature that he can fully indulge himself. In his landscapes he manages to reproduce an atmosphere of lightness, of transparencies of the light, of the trembling of the sun through the foliage, of the mildness of the shadows intensely and authentically.' (S. Rey) He was also working as a designer of murals, theater sets and cartons for stained glass windows. He is mentioned in BAS I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
