Rajon Paul-Adolphe

Paul-Adolphe Rajon was a French artist who was born in 1843 in Dijon and who died in 1888 in Auvers-sur-Oise. He was a French painter and graphic artist who started his career as a photographer. Rajon etched both contemporary works and old masters, as well as portraits, including those of Ivan Turgenev, Théophile Gautier, John Stuart Mill, Charles Darwin and Alfred, Lord Tennyson. He was widely acclaimed in France, Britain and the United States, through his acquaintance with New York-based American print dealer Frederick Keppel.
