Pas Jozef

Jozef Pas was a Belgian artist, born in Londerzeel in 1900 and died in Schoten in 1984. He was a painter and graphic artist. He was the cousin of Egide Van Esbroeck. In the 1920s he took lessons at the Dendermonde Academy. There he was a student of Leo Spanoghe, and studied together with J. Keppens, R. Moens and FR. Van Hove. He maintained close contacts with F. Willaert and P. Bosteels. He created landscapes and still lifes with flowers. He was also an etcher of city corners and landscapes. Professionally he was a teacher in Londerzeel. In 1945 he started the art dealership 't Karveel in Antwerp. He settled in Schoten around 12970. He exhibited at the Quadrennial Art Salon of Belgium in Brussels in 1939. Jozef Pas is listed in De Dendermondse Schilderschool. (Piron)
