Bonnevalle Oscar

Oscar Bonnevalle was a Belgian artist born in Ghent in 1920 and died there in 1993. He was a painter, draftsman, watercolorist, graphic artist, illustrator, decorator and designer of stamps. Education at the Academy in Ghent under Verdegem and Coddron, at the vocational school in Ghent under H. Verbaere. Found its inspiration in Flemish folklore, in history, Ghent folk types and the female nude. Some of the works reflect a magically realistic atmosphere. Was also very active as a designer of theater sets and stamps. Mentioned in Bas I and Two Centuries Signatures of Belgian Artists. (PIRON)
