Neve Jacques

Jacques Neve (Jaak) (Sint-Niklaas/Waas, 1942) · Sculptor, graphic artist, painter, gouache artist, collage designer. Studied advertising and window dressing at the Academy in Antwerp, painting at the Academy in Sint-Niklaas, and monumental art at the Higher Institute in Antwerp under the supervision of Van Vlasselaer. Became a teacher at the Academy in Sint-Niklaas in 1975. Created figures and portraits, among other works. From the press: 'J.N. lives in a personal world in which melancholy and longing for a lost paradise become palpable in languorous types of men and women, without passion or struggle. In a pure tone, he places plane next to plane or plane within the plane; even shadows and plays of light become outlined planes.' (1980) From ca. 1990 also a designer of spatial works.
