Blieck Maurice-Emile

Maurice-Emile Blieck was a Belgian etcher born in 1878 and died in 1943. He was a treasurer for the municipality Schaarbeek and only chose a career as artist around 1913. Yet he already illustrated often. He etched landscapes, city views and occasion prints like menus and diligence prints. In 1913 he published a folder with 25 etchings of Ypres. After the war he made some prints of the devastated city. Around 1920 he compiled a folder of etchings titled "Quelques coins du vieux Schaerbeek". He also immortalised picturesque corners of other cities like: Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Mechelen, De Panne, Veurne, Diksmuide, Houffalize, Laroche, Bastenaken, Paris, Geneva, Nijmegen, Dordrecht, Rotterdam ...
