Van Der Loo Marten
Marten Van Der Loo was a Belgian artist born in 1880 in Mortsel and died in 1920 in Antwerp. He was a painter, draftsman and etcher. He was the father of Jan, Gustaaf and Firmijn Van Der Loo. Education at the Academy in Antwerp with Vinck, Lauwers and Siberdt and at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp with Frans Van Leemputten. He focused on etching as an autodidact. Realized landscapes, (Antwerp) cityscapes and marines. Exhibited from 1906 to 1913 with the Société des Aquafortistes Belges. Stayed at Hampton-upon-Thames (Great Britain) during the First World War. Listed in BAS II and Two centuries of signatures by Belgian artists. (PIRON)
