Hastir Marcel

Marcel Hastir was a Belgian artist who was born in Brussels in 1906 and who died there in 2011. He was a painter, draftsman and graphic artist. Education at the Academy in Brussels under J. Delville and C. Montald (1922-1929). Stayed in Paris and Rome. Realized figures, portraits, landscapes, compositions. Worked for Ad. Crespin at the Chinese Pavilion, at the Japanese Tower and at the Hôtel Stoclet (1923-1924). Designed sets for performances at the Center for Fine Arts in Brussels (1936). Started in 1938 with the well-known multidisciplinary studio in the Handelsstraat in Brussels, which is responsible for the organization of concerts and exhibitions. after its 100th anniversary in 2006, the Brussels government decided to declare part of this house a protected heritage site. Co-founder and driving force behind the Music Festival in Stavelot. Died at age 105. Mentioned in BAS I, II and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. (piron)
