Kennes Marc

Marc Kennes is a Belgian artist who was born in Wilrijk (Antwerp) in 1962. He is a painter and etcher. From his boyhood in the Rupel region, he knew he wanted to be a painter. He took classes at the Drawing and Painting School in Niel and at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in Mechelen. He is inspired by the sea and the origin of all life. The sea becomes a symbol of freedom and infinity and men are involved as mythological or rather fantastic and symbolist elements. He suggests shapes rather than showing them. His visual language is neo-expressionist. (RKD, PIRON)
