Van Kuyck Louis

Louis Van Kuyck was a Belgian artist born in Hoboken in 1821 and died in Antwerp in 1871. He was a painter and engraver. Father of Frans Van Kuyck, brother-in-law of F. Lamorinière. In 1838 he became a student at the Academy in Antwerp, in the workshops of G. Wappers and M. Van Brée. He painted genre scenes with a strong predilection for animals, cattle and stable interiors with horses from about 1851 onwards. In 1852, commissioned by the Royal Court, he painted the portrait of Queen Victoria. Participated in the Antwerp Salon in 1861 (Stable interior in the Antwerp area). Work in the Museums in Brussels and Antwerp. Mentioned in Bas I and Two centuries of signatures of Belgian artists. Source: PIRON
