Etsen kopen van de Belgische graficus en etser Louis Peeters

Peeters Louis

Louis Peeters was a Belgian artist who was born in Antwerp in 1876 and who died there in 1964. He was an engraver and etcher. Education at the Academy in Antwerp, pupil of Lauwers. Second for the Prix de Rome for engraving in 1896 and 1901. Expressed a vibrant vision of man and life in his etchings. He also lived and worked for some time in Kalmthout and found his inspiration there in figures, portraits, farm views and animals. He was primarily a reproduction engraver and was one of the first to make colored etchings, each time trying to reproduce the local atmosphere in his landscapes and cityscapes. Through a subtle sense of touch, his portraits became true-to-life images. Exhibited at the 'Exposition universelle et internationale de Bruxelles' in 1910. Became a teacher of etching art at the Academy in Antwerp in 1905, followed in 1935 J. De Bruycker at the Hoger Instituut in Antwerp. Work in various Print Cabinets. (piron)
