Gambier Léon

Léon Gambier, was a French painter who was born in 1917 and died in 2007. He is best known as a marine painter. After high school at the Dieppe High School he graduated from the Regional School of Fine Arts of Rouen and then from 1938 to 1947 at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris. He was appointed Official Painter at the Department of Fine Arts in Paris and the navy in 1959. He was also chairman of the Dieppe painters and sculptors, member of the Salon committee of La Nationale and one of the founders of the Atelier de la Ville d'Avray.
