Florizoone Lieven
Lieven Florizoone is a Belgian painter and watercolorist born in Veurne in 1949 and who died in 1999 in Ostend. He followed a short preparatory training in plastic arts and sculpture at Sint-Lucas in Ghent. He evolved from figuration to abstract-geometric design. He structures refined surfaces of subtle colours. From the press: “L. F. brings soft watercolors that depict a frail dream and also an occasional landscape that has become sky or vice versa', (H.B., 1983) and 'F.L. expresses the message of the ultimate harmony between man and cosmos and this message seems to me today so universal that it really grips me', (B.H.C.) and also: 'The paintings of L.F. start from a landscape experience and gradually become a purely pictorial act. In many of his works, the color is eaten away by the light and, so to speak, sublimated.' He is listed in the Lexicon of West Flemish Visual Artists v. (Piron)
