Lejeune Frans
Frans Lejeune was a Belgian painter, born in Sint-Kwintens-Lennik in 1879 and died in Vorst in 1963. He was the father of Raoul Lejeune. He studied at the Academy in Brussels under the guidance of C. Montald and Is. Verheyden, and took evening classes at the Academy in Sint-Gillis under the guidance of Cluysenaar. He was an impressionist landscape painter. His main source of inspiration was the countryside west of Brussels, in particular the Beemte in Vorst, Sint-Anna-Pede, ’t Holleke and Beersel, where he spent much of his life. His rich colour palette conveyed a peaceful atmosphere. From 1927 to 1947, he was chairman of the circle L’Effort in Brussels. His work can be found in the collection of the municipality of Anderlecht. Listed in BAS I and Twee eeuwen signaturen van Belgische kunstenaars. (Piron)
